Wedding venue

We are based inside Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University's Kelburn campus. We are located in the Student Union Building (SUB)  Level 3. The best entry is Level 4 of the SUB beside VUWSAs office. Then drop down a level by the stairs or lift. Or come in Level 1 of the SUB and take the stairs or lift up to Level 3.

Like the rest of the university, parking is very hard to find while the classes are operating. After 6pm and on weekends there are a lot of free parks inside gate 1 and gate 7 of the university. There is also parking on Kelburn Parade, Salamanca Road and Waiteata Road.

We cost up each event individually. But basic costs are;

Event & Staff Charge - $2000 + gst

Dinner per person - $50 - $56 or External caterer charge of $800

Other costs that will come up that charge with your preference are;

Drinks cost. We can do this in a number of ways and depends on what you are looking to provide to your guests. 

For some large weddings we need to hire in extra plates, cutlery, tablecloths etc

Yes, many weddings hold the ceremony elsewhere then come to The Hunter Lounge but others hold the entire event with us.

Yes, we have lift access to level 3 that can be used for disability access.

Yes, our license allows under 18 year olds to come in.

We will work with you to decide if security is needed for your event. If there is any doubt it’s best to have a guard present. We use Immortal Protection who are Wellington's best bar, event and party security.

Driving/Ride-share:

Please direct your taxi, Uber, or DiDi to Gate 3 of Victoria University of Wellington's Kelburn campus. Public buses also stop at this location. From Gate 3 walk into the University, Enter the Student Union Level 4 and come down one level. 

Walking/Biking:

We are a short walk or bike ride uphill from The Terrace or Cuba Street. There are plenty of bike parks available outside Level 4 of our building. description
